Grayson Aird of the Chico AquaJets swim team won the boys 11-12 200-meter butterfly and the 100 fly at the Redding Trophy Meet, placed second twice and took third twice. Liam Davis (9-10) won the 50 breaststroke and 100 breast, had two second-place swims and took one third place. Madison Hopkins (12) won the 200 fly, took second twice and third once. Daine Treff (12) had two second places and one third. Sydney Limberg (12) and Kimberly Harbert (13) each had one second and one third. Gracie Hernandez (16) placed third in three events. Amy Harter (9) and Paige Treff (14) each had a third-place finish.

AMATEUR BASEBALL

Stiks go 2-3

The Chico Stiks of the American Amateur Baseball Congress” Sacramento Rural League beat the California Knicks in Redding 16-1. Starting pitcher Josh Embree went five innings for the win. Seth Harvey and Shaun Rawlings each had two hits and three RBIs. The next day, Chico beat the Fairfield Indians in Fairfield 10-5 to open a doubleheader. Corey Louber pitched nine innings, Matt Lambert went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs and Rawlings homered. Fairfield won the second game 6-3. Lambert and Tyler Updike each had two hits. The following day the Solano Mudcats swept a doubleheader in Vacaville, 5-2 and 12-6. A.Z. Sutton and Jordan Schwartz had two hits apiece for Chico in the opener. Jeff Evans doubled and singled with three RBIs in the nightcap.

Stimac wins at NorCal

Tucker Stimac won the boys 13-14 weight throw with a toss of 186 feet, 1 inch at the NorCal Hershey State Meet in San Jose and now has a chance to compete at the Hershey”s national meet in Pennsylvania. Zack Gillam took second place in the boys 13-14 100 meters in 12.41 seconds. Marlowe Embry placed second in the girls 11-12 weight throw (117-10).
