PARADISE — The Town Council Tuesday voted unanimously to extend a 45-day emergency moratorium on certain medical marijuana practices to give Town Hall time to develop a plan for how to deal with the potential problems.

The extension required a four-fifths vote to pass, otherwise the moratorium on collective grows and establishment of distribution facilities would have expired this month.

The temporary ban cannot last more than 10 and a half months and doesn”t apply to medical marijuana cooperative grows by those living together at the grow site.

The vote was to allow time to write zoning and other land-use regulations for growing and distributing medical marijuana.
