CHICO — A broken power pole on C Street in south Chico has caused power lines to fall, cutting electricity to 990 customers, and forcing the closure of C Street between East 16th and East 17th streets, PG&E said.

The outage was reported at 1:17 p.m. and has affected several streets in the area.

Power has been partially restored, but officials said at 2 p.m. that the pole will have to be replaced. The estimated time to complete the replacement and get power flowing to all customers is 8 p.m., according to Chico police.
