The Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1iwPKY1) interim Fire Chief James Featherstone says he's keeping the city's fire stations at full staff through overtime and by keeping firefighters on extra duty.
Featherstone told the City Council on Wednesday that his department expects to lose about 120 firefighters this year through attrition.
He said the department has submitted a budget request to Mayor Eric Garcetti that includes funding next year to hire firefighters at the 2008 level. He estimated it will take until March 2016 to get there.
A report on new technology designed to help increase response times is expected in two weeks.
