CALEXICO, Calif. (AP)—Border inspectors have seized a stash of cocaine hidden in a car dashboard at the Calexico crossing with Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a Chrysler 200 sedan Wednesday and recovered more than 33 pounds of cocaine.
The Imperial Valley Press (http://bit.ly/1fJDdDp ) reports the drug was wrapped in 14 packages and had an estimated street value of $331,000.
Jaime Lopez Jr., of San Ysidro, was arrested and booked into jail. According to a court complaint, Lopez was supposed to leave the car in a restaurant parking lot and then cross into Mexicali to deliver the keys and get paid.
