South Fork traveled to Del Norte High School in Crescent City on Wednesday, April 2.

Freshman Sean Sweeney had a great day placing 2nd in freshman/sophomore discus (80’01”) as well as 2nd in freshman/sophomore shot put (30’0 4.0”). Huston Reuter was close behind finishing 5th in freshman/sophomore shot put (28’0 7.5”).

Dustyn Salomon was outstanding in the varsity 1600 meters finishing 2nd with a time of 4:35.97, finishing mere 0.47 seconds behind the winner Jose Lopez of Arcata. Dustyn also finished 3rd in the varsity 3200 meters with a time of 10:27.43.

Salomon also competed in the Napa Valley Trail Marathon on March 22. He completed the extreme course in 3 hours 23 minutes and received 3rd place overall.

The girls competed in their first meet of the season, with one top ten finish coming when Maricela Lopez finished 9th in the 1600 meters with a time of 6:47.24. The team earned some valuable experience heading into their next meet Wednesday, April 9 in Eureka.
