Go ahead and poke the Beyhive. Just be prepared for the swarm of activity that follows.
Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren bashed Beyonce — yes, again — after the pop star on Tuesday presented former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick with the Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Awards.
“Police-hating Beyoncé presents police and America-hating Kappy with a "legacy" award. This is how far we’ve fallen. Wow,” Lahren tweeted along with a photo of the award presentation.
That didn’t sit well with Beyonce’s legion of loyal fans, a.k.a. the Beyhive, who were quick to clap back. Some went the political route, others got personal and some just straight up said don’t mess with Beyonce.
Lahren was also critical of Beyonce’s Super Bowl 50 halftime performance in 2016, which referenced the Black Panthers movement.
"Now the Super Bowl halftime show has become a way to politicize and advance the notion that black lives matter more,” Lahren said at the time. “Beyonce, really? What is the political message here? What is it they are trying to convey here? A salute to what? A group that used violence and intimidation to advance, not racial equality, but an overthrow of white domination.”
Kaepernick has also been one of her frequent targets. He gained international attention and inspired the wave of protest by athletes and others when he refused to stand for the national anthem as a way to call attention to police brutality toward African-Americans.
