Pac-12 Hotline survey: Your input needed

Were in the transition phase in the college sports calendar, with off-the-field football news leading the way and the basketball season ramping up conference play begins in just a few weeks.

As we pivot, the the Pac-12 Hotline is seeking your help in plotting the next chapter in this endeavor.

To date, the Hotline has been full throttle football (on and off the field).

There has been at least one new piece of content published every day since late August, with the exception of Thanksgiving.

Make no mistake: This is a year-round enterprise.

But the speed with which we proceed from now until August and the direction we take depends partly on the preferences of the Pac-12 Hotline community.

The Hotline, for those who dont know, is a one-person operation.

I conceive of, write, edit and publish the content; manage the website; curate and distribute the newsletter; and record the podcasts (they are edited and published by VSporto).

Its a load of work, its fun, and Id like to think its important:

Independent, third-party coverage of a $400 million annual enterprise owned by 12 prominent western universities (10 of them public) would seem to have some merit.

(Thats just the conference income. Add the athletic departments and were into the $1 billion range.)

The one-man nature of the Hotline structure provides me with immense flexibility on the content side.

It also makes your input vital in determining the direction.

That said, I would ask readers to take three steps:

1) Fill out the survey below, which will help me plot coverage for the next five or six months.

2) Please sign up for the free Hotline newsletter, which is essential to the future of this operation.

3) Hit me with any comments, suggestions, complaints, etc: pac-12hotline@bayareanewsgroup.com

Thanks for all the support these past few months.
