A panel discussion will include the value of a diverse workforce, the services for dual-language speakers at College of the Redwoods, and career options including transferring to Humboldt State University.
"Children benefit from having teachers who reflect their lives,” said CR ECE instructor Sydney Larson. “Currently over 50% of children in California are Latino, many from homes where Spanish is the first language. Half of the children in preschool programs are boys. We need teachers of a variety of races and ethnicities, who speak the languages that the children speak at home, and who are of the same gender as half of the children in our classrooms."
This will be a free event, no parking fees required. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
This event was made possible by Carl D. Perkins Career Technical Education Act through the CCCCO, College of the Redwoods Early Childhood Education Program, Humboldt Association for the Education of Young Children, First 5 Humboldt, and the Local Child Care Planning Council, Humboldt.
