In the early planning stages of the event, Northern Nights and Cook’s Valley Campground decided they wanted to give back to the local community. It was decided that a portion of their ticket sales were going to be donated to the Southern Humboldt Schools Foundation (SOS) and to Leggett School. Throughout the whole process a sense of community along with a positive vibe were exuded.
The Southern Humboldt Schools Foundation would like to offer its deepest gratitude for the $2,250 check that was donated by Northern Nights and Cook’s Valley Campground. The intent of the donation was to keep music and art alive for the local youth. The festival will continue to donate to SOS and plans to involve more nonprofits in the future.
For over 20 years, SOS has helped fund music teaching positions, art, technology and many other enrichment programs that the schools would not otherwise have. It is generous donations like these as well as the strong communal support from local businesses and from those that support local fundraisers that allow SOS to be able to help with so many projects.
