Science teachers Marianne Lancaster and Leslie Yale recently accompanied South Fork High School marine biology students on a field trip to Monterey. They received a scholarship from the Monterey Bay Aquarium to visit and attend a class on the biodiversity of the kelp forest. While there, they also found time to kayak in Elkhorn Slough and go whale watching, which included following a pod of wild orcas. Humpbacks, gray whales, and dolphins were also spotted.
