Field trips are an important part of the program at Whale Gulch School, integrating experiential learning with classroom studies.

Whale Gulch School secondary students raised funds for their field trips by selling concessions at Recycled Youth performances. They would like to thank the audiences, Shop Smart, Signature Coffee and Redway Liquor for their generous support.

The Whale Gulch 9th and 10th grade class took a geology trip with their instructor, Steve Fry. The students visited the Oregon Caves, Crater Lake and the Lava Beds National Monument.

Christy Orion and Steve Fry took the Middle School students to San Francisco to the theatre. They went to the American Conservatory Theater and saw The Odyssey. They also saw Human Nature’s Tripping on the Tipping Point.

Christy Orion and Dan Rhoads also took the 11th and 12th grade students to San Francisco to hear a lecture by Native American author, Sherman Alexie.
