We are a community service troop dedicated in doing good deeds within our Southern Humboldt community. We volunteer at the food pantry in Garberville, pick up litter around town, visit the elderly at the hospital and skilled nursing facility, donate and hide colored Easter eggs for the Community Park event and march in the rodeo parade and ride on the Girl Scout troop float, to name a few regular activities.
We raise money for our troop through our cookies and nuts sales campaign, as well as making and selling handcrafted items at the Redway School Holiday Craft Fair. We use our funds to participate in Northern California Councils sponsored events, and delivering experiences to our girls that they want such as ice skating at the Charles Schultz Museum in Santa Rosa, bowling, roller skating, and water park adventures.
All the girls have utilized the extensive summer camps available to them through Girl Scouts. Activities and badges earned are girl-driven, they pick what they want to learn about and where they want to go.
Troop #70553 is looking for girls and their families who are interested in participating in all that Girl Scouts has to offer and soaring into the future. Come join us.
We meet Thursdays at the Community Presbyterian Church in Garberville from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. You can register your girl for $12 at our first meeting on Thursday, Sept. 20. Bring a friend. For further information call troop leader Becky Knapp at 923-3369.
