The last week of school always has a mixed feel about it. On the one hand, whoopee school is going to be out and summer fun is here. There’ll be swimming at the river, camping, maybe a vacation, and best of all no more schoolwork.

On the other hand, there’ll be no more seeing friends every day either. Of course, for some, there won’t even be a next year to look forward to at Leggett Valley School, they’ll be graduating and moving on into life as an adult.

The seniors graduating this year are Cory Foster and he is interested in going into gunsmithing; Cody Centeno and he will be attending Humboldt State University to study marine biology; Troy Kortegard is not really sure what he will be doing; Danielle Sutherland is planning on attending cosmetology school; and Jake Atkinson will be attending College of the Redwoods.

Commencement exercises were held on Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m. on the gazebo at Leggett Valley School. All of the staff wishes them the best and will miss their presences at the school.

Also graduating from the 8th grade are Nate Losee, Jose Mendoza, Orion Talamontes, and Irina Knapp.

We wish these junior high students great success in high school even though they have expressed some nervousness about moving on. Their commencement exercises began at 6 p.m. on the gazebo.
