Youth Alive! Outdoor Adventures and the Bureau of Land Management invite local teens on an overnight hike to the mouth of the Mattole, leaving on Tuesday, June 29 and returning on Wednesday, June 30. Participants must register by June 22; registration forms are available at the Mateel Community Center as well as on the Youth Alive! website at www.sohumyouthalive.org and must be turned into the Mateel office 5 days before the event.

Backpacks and other equipment are available for hike participants upon request. Youth Alive! events are by donation only and are open to all Southern Humboldt/Northern Mendocino youth ages 12-19.

Youth Alive! Outdoor Adventures is also offering a canoe/kayak trip from Alderpoint to Fort Seward on June 23. OA will provide boats, life jackets, lunch, and transportation. We will meet at 10 a.m. at the Mateel and drive to Alderpoint, where the boats will be waiting for us. We will return that evening, around 5. There will be two lifeguards on this trip.
