Tracy passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 7 at the age of 51 in her Vallejo home with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jean Barton, and is survived by her father, Dwayne Barton; brother, Todd Barton; her life-long partner and main-squeeze, Ron Dyer; daughters, Jillian Bryant (Ben), and Rachael Phillips (Drew); sons, Scott Hostetter (Oyuki), and Steven Dyer; and four grandchildren, Miley, Mason, Zoe, and Leah Diane.
Tracy was born on March 11, 1962 in Humboldt County. She moved to Solano County in 1982 where she started her lifelong career in education. She was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in November of 2009, and, despite her diagnosis, she stayed focused on her career and earned her BS Degree in Career and Technical Services from CSU, Sacramento in 2011, as well as a graduate certificate in Transition and Employment from Touro University in 2012. Her commitment and love for her career was recognized by her colleagues when she was recognized in 2011 as the “Solano County Classified School Employee of the Year” and again in 2012 as the “Solano County Schoolmaster of the Year.”
In addition to her career and education, Tracy was devoted to her fellow cancer survivors as a Hero of Hope for the American Cancer Society.
Tracy was buried at Rockville Cemetery in a private burial service on Friday, Sept. 13. A public memorial service was held at her church, Calvary Chapel Solano located at 1180 Western Street in Fairfield on Saturday, Sept. 14.
