Eel River Valley Babe Ruth in Fortuna will host the Babe Ruth League 13-year old All-Star tournament starting July 5 at Newburg Park. Two games are scheduled on Saturday. The McKinleyville All-Stars will face the Eureka All-Stars at 2 p.m. The Fortuna All-Stars will play Siskiyou County All-Stars at 5 p.m.
The tournament continues Sunday. The winners and losers advance to playoff games, held at 10 a.m., 1 and 4 p.m. The championship game will be Monday at 3 p.m. The winner of the championship game will be the Northern California District 1 Champion and will represent Humboldt County in the Northern California State Tournament. The State Tournament will be held in Eureka on July 12 through the 17.
St. Joseph's Hospital beneift raises over $100,000
The 4th annual St. Joseph's Hospital Tournament was held Friday, June 27 at Baywood Golf and Country Club. As one of SJH's main fundraisers, this tournament is expected to have raised over $100,000, which will benefit the new, seismically compliant Northeast Tower currently under construction at the hospital.
The fundraiser included a dinner and live auction on June 28, followed by the tournament on Friday, both of which were sold out. The tournament
Men's Adult Softball Tournament coming soon
Samoa Athletics is set to host a men's slow pitch softball tournament in Lowden Park in Weaverville July 4 through the 6.
Teams will be guaranteed three games. In addition there will also be an arm wrestling tournament, horseshoe tournament, cribbage

Babe Ruth League accepting applications for summer and fall sessions
The Babe Ruth League is accepting applications for the Summer and Fall leagues.
The summer session, which starts in early July, is open to anyone in the county ages 14-17.
The Fall Ball session starts in late July and applicants can participate in a free clinic. This portion of the league is open to players ages 11 through 13.

St. Bernard's hosting youth football camp in July
St. Bernard's is scheduled to host a youth football camp from July 21 through the 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The camp will focus on conditioning and fundamentals for athletes.
Cost is $60, however, those who register before July 19 will only have to pay $50. In addition, each partcipate will receive a T-shirt.

Scholarships available from Kayla A. Wood Girls' Soccer Memorial Fund
The Humboldt Area Foundations is offering scholarships to benefit girls under 14-years-old with financial need and a desire to play and learn the finer points of soccer.
Erich F. Schimps created the fund in memory of his 12-year-old grand daughter Kayla who was lost to the Trinity River in May 2002. Scholarships awards will be given for annual soccer camps and/or sign up fees. Contributions to the fund are welcome. Tax-deductible gifts can also be sent to the foundation.

Redwoods set to offer youth football camp
The College of the Redwoods football staff is slated to head a non-contact camp for boys entering third throuh eight grades in July.
Starting on July 21 and running until the 25, the camp costs $125. Set for a start time of 9 a.m., the camp runs until 5 p.m.

College of the Redwoods offering basketball camp
College of the Redwoods is scheduled to offer a youth basketball camp which runs from July 28 to August 1.
The camp will feature two division.
One portion of the camp is for girls from grades K through 8th and the other is for boys K through 5th.
CR is also set to offer various times for the camps. Morning sessions are available from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m., afternoon sessions are from 1 to 5 p.m.
There is also a full day session that runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The camp costs $100 for half day or $150 for full.
