The Policy Update Committee of the SHUSD Board of Trustees agreed to recommend the district sign on for California School Board Association training in keeping current with all the many policies school districts are required to have.

For $3,630, CSBA will send trainers to the district to conduct a two-day workshop to review the district’s policy manual, make sure it meets all state requirements, and review those policies that distinctive to this district.

That figure may be reduced by $1,100 if the district can join forces with two other county districts that are also interested in the taking the workshop. The Blue Lake School Distict and the Ferndale Unified School District have both taken steps to update their policy manuals, and a lowered rate is available for consortiums of three or more districts.

The workshop will take place in late August or later. The major problem will be to find a date that meets the needs of all three districts. It’s possible the district will host the workshop.
