A Garberville woman and a Carlotta man both received moderate injuries on Thursday, July 3, when their vehicles collided.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Missy Munsell, 22, of Garberville, was driving a Toyota 4-Runner northbound on US 101 just south of Richardson Grove at 8:45 a.m., when she allowed her vehicle to enter partially into the southbound lane and into the path of a 1952 Chevy pickup driven by Craig E. Jacob, 60, of Carlotta. Jacob steered to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision. The front end of the 4-Runner struck the left side of the pickup, causing the 4-Runner to rotate counter-clockwise and overturn onto its roof, coming to rest blocking the southbound lane and part of the northbound lane. The pickup stopped in a ditch at the west side of the roadway.

Both drivers were transported to Jerold Phelps Community Hospital in Garberville for treatment of moderate injuries.
