By Monday morning, containment had reached 15% as CAL FIRE added resources. As of Monday morning, four engines, six hand crews, six dozers, four water tenders, one faller and two helicopters were being employed to achieve full containment.
According to CAL FIRE spokesman Joe Fassler, the bulldozers were being used to create fire lines in all but the steepest portions, where hand crews were being employed.
Lightning also sparked a fire in Humboldt Redwoods State Park near the High Rock Conservation Camp. That fire had zero containment as of Sunday, but by Monday 60% containment had been achieved.
Two lightning fires were burning in the Redcrest area. A fire in Carson Creek north of Redcrest was 95% contained by Monday morning, with 66 acres involved. Another 30-acre fire in Bear Creek northwest of Redcrest was 50% contained.
