Elk Ridge resident Randy Foster died while doing what he loved in Shelter Cove last Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Humboldt County Coroner Frank Jager said Foster, age 57, suffered a “cardiac event” while surfing. An experienced surfer, Foster was able to make it back to the beach before collapsing. Several people on the scene tried to help and administered CPR, Jager said.

Many people will recognize Foster from his job at Milt’s Saw Shop in Garberville.
