Heart of the Redwoods Community Hospice is now powered by the sun, thanks to Alternative Energy Engineering Solar (AEE) and SolarWinds NorthernLights. Eric Downs, lead installer for SolarWinds shows off the completed panels on the roof. The equipment is 12 Evergreen ES 190 solar panels (on the roof), connected to a Fronius IG2000 inverter. This is a grid tied system, meaning that any excess electricity generated by the system will spin the meter backwards and give Hospice a credit on their electric bill. The panels, racking, inverter, and some labor were donated by AEE. A huge thanks goes out to them. Brian Teitelbaum was the driving force in getting the grant and coordinating the installation and donations. Labor, wiring, conduit, and final hookup was donated by SolarWinds NorthernLights, which has installed grid tie and off grid solar systems for 20 years throughout Humboldt County and beyond. They recently completed a large system for actress Shirley Maclaine in New Mexico. For more information, contact them at 707-498-2804.
