LOS ANGELES (AP) — Horse stables offering guided rides in an urban wilderness area near iconic Los Angeles sites is scheduled to close later this year.
The Los Angeles Daily News reports Griffith Park Horse Rentals is closing in May after more than 50 years of operation.
Owner Julie Schad says it's closing because her sublease with the Los Angeles Equestrian Center is expiring.
According to court records, Schad and the privately-owned equestrian center have been engage in multiple lawsuits in recent years.
Schad declined comment on those suits, citing settlement agreement terms.
The equestrian center declined to comment.
Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks officials say the equestrian center has not notified the department on its plans to remove Schad. Its leasing agreement requires rental horses to be available to the public.
