Thank you for covering the notice that there will be a public hearing in Garberville, (Nov. 8, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Vet’s Hall).
I wanted to let the community know that the funds that would pay for the under-grounding project are already sitting in a fund, (about $7,000,000). This is not money from the county or any other government agency. It is a fund that PG&E has for under-grounding utilities in Humboldt County.
The Garberville Town Square started this process six years ago and PG&E has determined that the project meets all the criteria needed to qualify. Now we are moving through the county process.
Once we have the public hearing then we go back to the supervisors to ask for their approval of our request to be an "under grounding district" then if approved by the supervisors we will be put on PG&E’s list.
One of our primary goals for the under-grounding is to allow for a more accessible farmer’s market.
