Kudos to the Humboldt County Fair board for putting on one of the best fairs we’ve seen in a long, long time. From the tribute to Al Michel during the opening ceremonies to the marathon races on the last Sunday, this was one of the most organized fairs we’ve experienced in years!
The entertainment was outstanding, camel rides, the Nascar experience, the Chinese Acrobats, and on and on. This year there was simply something for just about everyone. The food court was a brilliant idea that had fairgoers and vendors asking, "Why wasn’t this ever done here before?" The grounds were as clean as we have ever seen and for the first time in over 10 years, the women’s restrooms from the racetrack to Hindley Hall, did not back up and create havoc. The buildings were newly painted and the grounds well groomed as volunteers stepped up and gave of themselves to provide us all with a better experience.
Thank you, Jeff Farley and his group of volunteers for getting the grounds in shape. Thank you, Cindy Olson for all of the fine entertainment you found for this years’ event. Thank you, Dave Mogni for having the insight to know the food court would be a big hit and great addition to the fair.
Thank you, Sandy Hanks for making the livestock shows and events run smoothly. Thank you, Duane Martin for keeping an eye on all of the financial matters. Without this group of conscientious administrators this year’s fair would not have been as successful.
I’m sure we’ve left out someone, so we would like to thank the entire board of directors and fair staff for a job well done and a great fair. Thank you.
Next year will be the 118th year of the Humboldt County Fair and we look forward to more of the progressive plans for the future of our county fair. Where is Captain Beeper?
