The rate hikes proposed by the Phillipsville Community Service Board are extreme at best. Though they need to develop a long term financial plan for the future needs of the system, a good place to start is by lowering the monthly payroll. The payroll has tripled in the past year since the recent take over of the system.
Many jobs that were done by the board are now done by an administrative assistant. The secretary and treasurer of the board need to do their jobs. We are a small system and don’t need someone to be in the office at the fire hall.
Though a modest increase is probably warranted the one proposed is way out of line.
