The upcoming November election is a really important one, both nationally and locally.
The lack of public confidence in local healthcare in Southern Humboldt is a direct result of the decisions made by the current SHCHD hospital board and the administrator. They left this community uncovered, with no fulltime family physician, for two years. I’m glad there is a doctor at the clinic now, but that doesn’t change the facts of the past few years. Many patients have had life-threatening experiences at the hospital and clinic during this time, myself included.
That’s why I’m voting for Judi Gonzales, Beth Bennett-Allen and Karen Ruth for SHCHD hospital board. These women know what the community’s issues are because they’ve been attending board meetings for years. They were there when patients like myself and district employees came before the current board to ‘try’ to tell them what’s been going on at the hospital and clinic under their watch.
They witnessed the lack of empathy for community members and employees exhibited by the board at these meetings. They saw the lack of response to public outcry when the current board voted to give the administrator a $78,000 raise while cutting his onsite working time to 13 days a month.
These women stand with the community and employees of the district. If you want change you have to vote for it. That’s why I’m voting for Judi Gonzales, Beth Bennett-Allen and Karen Ruth for SHCHD hospital board. I urge you to do the same.
