Love and Mahoney are conducting in Humboldt County is investigating an approach to destroying the lining of the breast ducts from which breast cancer arises, making breast cancer theoretically impossible. The ultimate goal of this treatment is the primary prevention of breast cancer. The current study is focused on women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a very early form of breast cancer. “An intraductal disease deserves an intraductal approach, because it is logical, and because it holds the promise of maximizing therapy while minimizing or eliminating damage to normal tissue,” Dr. Mahoney writes.
