Redwoods Rural Health Center hosted a free Dental Sealant Clinic for Redway school children on Friday, May 2, at the RRHC Dental Clinic. Organized by Michelle Mercer of Tooth AmeriCorps and assisted by the Family Resource Center of Redway, children were transported from school to the clinic where George Epperson D.D.S., Barb Taylor, R.D.A., and Megan McCormack R.D.H. placed sealants on the permanent molars of 28 children. Many volunteers assisted, providing games and activities and oral hygiene instruction for the kids as they waited for their turn in the chair. Dental Sealants are a painless, safe, and low-cost method of preventing cavities from forming in the biting surface of children’s teeth.
