The time is rapidly approaching for the Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive, which will happen this year on Saturday, May 10. In the next week, please consider checking your cupboards for extra foods or purchasing some extra cans or boxes of food to leave at your mailbox or in barrels in the Post Offices. People and families who come to the Food Pantry really appreciate the variety of foods that are donated. Each month our Pantry at the Garberville Community Presbyterian Church serves about 150 households including about 350 people.

This year, the Farm Bill and other legislation that regulates the foods we receive at the Pantry, is reducing the amount of protein foods and sending more carbohydrate foods. You can help us the most by donating protein foods like Peanut Butter, Tuna, canned meats, rice and bean combinations, canned beans, etc.

In addition to foodstuffs, the Pantry is regularly asked for personal toiletry items (toothpaste, shampoo, toothbrushes, hand lotion, etc.) and can openers. If you have a collection of motel toiletries, plastic silverware, or can openers, please feel free to donate those as well.
