The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of several children’s items. These items were recalled during February and March of 2008. Any of the items could have been purchased in Humboldt County. They contain high levels of lead and pose a risk of lead poisoning to children. Lead poisoning in children can make it hard for them to learn, pay attention, and behave. Items are as follows:

Pecoware Children’s Metal Necklaces were sold from January 2006 through November 2007. They cost $13. They were sold at department and specialty stores. About 2,900 of the necklaces were sold.
Toy Gardening Rakes were sold from June through November 2007. They cost $2.50. They were sold at toy and home improvement stores. About 400 of the rakes were sold.
Most of these items have been recalled because of too much lead in the surface paint. The pendants, candle charms, necklaces were made with lead. All of the items were made in China except the pendants and candles with charms, which were made in Korea. You can find more information on the CPSC website.
People should take these items away from children. Contact the company for a refund or free exchange product.
