The Shelter Cove Fire Department is proud to thank the Shelter Cove Pioneers for an incredible gift , a “stair chair” for transporting a patient down a flight of stairs or in a tight space where there is not room for a gurney to fit. It is made by Stryker, which makes gurneys, and it has a capacity of 500 pounds. Because of the number of homes in Shelter Cove built with two or three levels, medical personnel often cannot maneuver gurneys in narrow stairways. The stair chair, valued at nearly $3,000, has treads like a tank, so it smoothly glides the patient up or down the stairs, while also saving the backs of medical personnel who would otherwise have to lift the weight of the patient.
Shelter Cove has had some incredible weather lately, so everyone has been planting and working in outside flower and vegetable gardens. Spring fever is here!
