Garberville Rotary speaker Joan R. Cardellino is the Director of Volunteer Services for the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, headquartered in Sacramento. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing a statewide network of committees serving hospital volunteer programs and services. She stressed the importance of community support and the value of local volunteers to keep the hospital’s doors open in the future. She also emphasized the hard road ahead for the health care district in the months ahead due to severe budget cuts and legislated earthquake retrofit requirements.
