Geoffrey and Sama offer a variety of yoga classes, bodywork and personal consultations at the Abundant Light Healing Sanctuary in Garberville.
The entrance to the new sanctuary is at 824 Locust Street, behind the gate and down the driveway in the classroom of the Inner Qi, where there have been yoga classes before. In August Sama and Geoffery began presenting their therapeutic blend of yoga, dance, bodywork and spiritual guidance, a result of their lifelong explorations of spirit, mind and body.
Geoffrey teaches classes that are a combination of hatha and kundalini yoga. He has a Friday morning class that is mixed level yoga, which incorporates more kundalini technique. There is a beginner’s class that is mostly hatha yoga, focusing on floor practice and breathing. They also offer a free yoga class in the Garberville town square from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. before the Friday Farmers’ Market.
Geoffrey is a spiritual life coach. There is a perspective that comes from the yoga practice, Geoffrey said recently, that encompasses all types of views and is a way of living and looking at things from a spiritual standpoint. It gives you more room, he explained.
Sama described the Abundant Light Healing Sanctuary as the “result of lifelong exploration of yoga for healing my body, mind and spirit.” Her background in classical dance training includes ballet, tap, salsa, belly dancing, Latin and jazz.
Sama is offering yoga dance classes, Thai yoga massage, aromatherapy massage and light energy healing work, which works within other modalities or as a stand-alone modality. Working with light energy is what is going on in hands-on bodywork, Sama explained.
Geoffrey said the yoga practice experience included 17 years of Standing Wave Yoga. He said that he got a lot from it and it has led to something else now. This is a culmination of that, a life change and next step. Sama said they are moving into something new.
Both Sama and Geoffrey offer private consultations for spiritual growth.
Sama explained that sometimes when people talk about their physical ailments they realize it is associated with aspects of their lifestyle that keep recreating the same condition, and lifestyles can be the result of emotional issues, or spiritual issues that a person may be ready to move toward.
In consultation with Geoffrey or Sama, a client can set up a personal program that might include some of the classes they offer, hands-on sessions, regular consultations or phone calls depending on the client’s needs, time and interest.
Sama offers spiritual guidance, holistic healing and doula services.
There are also classes of yoga and bellydance for women’s health, yoga dance, and on the first Friday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. ecstatic dance, an opportunity to discover the inner well of ecstacy that is everyone’s birthright.
Abundant Light Healing Sanctuary can be reached by phone at 923-2925.
Geoffrey can be reached at 273-2926 and Sama at 223-7702 for answers to questions, appointments or more information.
