As a part of a special grant to promote healthy eating and exercise, Cal Fresh and Redwoods Rural Health Center will be sponsoring a free exercise class on Monday, Sept, 17. The class will be taught by Angie Clark and will be part of her ongoing classes offered through Feet First at the Veteran’s Hall in Garberville.

The class starts at 12:30 p.m. and goes to 2 p.m. It consists of two parts and you may come for either one or both. From 12:30 p.m. to approximately 1:10 p.m. there will be warm-up followed by aerobics. You may adjust the level of the workout to your own fitness profile. Then from 1:10 p.m. to 2 p.m. there will be strength training with weights and on the floor followed by a cool down and stretching. If you come for the later part of the class you should bring a mat, towel or blanket for the floor work.

Someone will also be available to offer information on eligibility and enrollment into the Cal Fresh program through the County. The CalFresh Program, formerly known as Food Stamps and federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), can add to your food budget to put healthy and nutritious food on the table. The program issues monthly electronic benefits that can be used to buy most foods at many markets and food stores. The CalFresh Program helps to improve the health and well-being of qualified households and individuals by providing them a means to meet their nutritional needs.
