The monthly government food commodities provided by Food for People in Eureka and distributed by volunteers at the Food Pantry located on Locust at the Community Presbyterian Church in Garberville will be available on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2-4 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. If your income falls within the government income guidelines, you are eligible. The commodities for this month are pork patties, apricots, great northern beans, macaroni, tuna, instant milk, peas and bread. Helpers are needed to unload the truck. If you can help unload, please come about 1:25 on Wednesday.

Individuals are asked to “self certify” that they are eligible by signing in. Please bring identification for each of your household members with your local address as we will be doing certifications of residence (if you have not already been certified). If you are picking up for a homebound person, you must have a note from them with their name, address, the number in their family, income, a copy of their id and authorization. We ask that individuals or families try to come only once a month to help us serve as many households as possible - but if you need food, please come. If you have been told that an ID will be needed before your next pick up, please remember to bring it.

The Food Pantry is usually open every Tuesday and Thursday 10:30 a.m. to noon, and Wednesdays 2-4 p.m. Volunteers are needed for back up on all three days. Anyone wishing to donate food for the Food Pantry program or who has an idea of how to improve the distribution program should talk to the volunteers. For more information, call Patti at 923-2477.
