Halloween Fest in Town Square today

The Garberville Halloween Fest at the town Square will take place today from 3:30 to 5 p,m. There will be costume and scream contests. There will be live music with DJ Rundat.

SHWT meets Nov. 1 on CR Garberville campus

Southern Humboldt Working Together plans a general meeting on Nov. 1. The meeting will be in the Southern Humboldt Community Healthcare District Foundation room on the College of the Redwood Garberville campus.

The meeting starts at 12:05 p.m. and the topic is domestic violence prevention and awareness.

Dia de los Muertos celebrated at hospice

Heart of the Redwoods Community Hospice invites the community to its third annual Dia de los Muertos celebration on Nov. 2 in the hospice meeting room at 464 Maple Lane in Garberville. The event begins at 5 p.m.

As part of the celebration, an altar will be set up beginning Oct. 30. Flowers, photos and mementos of loved ones can be brought to the altar. People bringing items are asked to put a name on the item to ensure it is returned with the altar is taken down.

Fall celebration raises money for fire department

The Fall Celebration set for Nov. 4 from 4 to 10 p.m. and it raises money for the Piercy Fire Protection District and Volunteer Fire Department. The event takes place at the Piercy Community Center. The cost is $18 for adults, children younger than 11 are free.

The Fall Celebration meal includes the option of barbecue tri-tip roast, barbecue chicken or a vegan option. Beer, wine, soft drinks and bottled water will be available. There will also be a silent auction and live music.
