What’s happening in the community in April

April 1 — Touch a Truck

Visit Redway School on Saturday, April 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Touch a Truck, a unique interactive event for kids and young adults to explore, discover and learn about their favorite enormous vehicles and their hard working operators.

The event is free.

Expect to see: huge dump truck, bobcat, excavator, water truck, Cal-fire, loader, school bus, bulldozer, Sheriff, CHP, forklift and more.

There will also be a make your own trail mix table and fruit juice snow cones and raffle prizes, including:

1 load of your choice gravel or dirt (you pick up) from Randall’s Sand and gravel

Buy your raffle tickets at The Stonery, Family Resource Center or at the event. Proceeds from this event will support Southern Humboldt Playgroups, Water Safety Classes and Infant Communication Classes

Vehicles will be on both the black tops at Redway School from 11 a.m. — 2 p.m. on Saturday April 1.

April 4 — Rotary

Garberville Rotary meets the first four Tuesdays of the month at the Healy Serior Center, 456 Briceland Road in Redway. Meetings begin at noon. Members only, unless otherwise noted.

April 5 — Southern Humboldt Working Together

SHWT meets the first Wednesday of the month, 12:05-1:15 p.m. at the Dimmick Room at the Jerold Phelps Community Hospital in Garberville. Meetings cover local non-profit and charity initatives, needs and community priorities.

April 5 — Breast Cancer Support

The Breast and GYN Health Project will hold its monthly breast cancer support drop-in hours on Wednesday, April 5tfrom 1-3 p.m. The Drop-In location is at 464 Maple Lane in Garberville (office of Heart of the Redwoods Community Hospice). April 29 — Spring Fling

The first ever Spring Fling launches Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Redway School Gym. There will be several home-based business vendors/distributors selling their items, a few spots remain.
