Recycled Youth starts Sept. 9

Do you like improvisation, theater games and creating your own play? You are invited to join Recycled Youth, a free after-school performing arts program for teens aged 13 through 18. Sponsored by the Mateel Community Center and community support, Recycled Youth has been creating socially relevant shows in Southern Humboldt since 1997. Incorporating comedy, physical theatre, story telling, music and more, teens choose issues that are important to them, write scripts and songs, and participate in various aspects of production.

This free 13 week program is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 to 6:15 p.m. at the Mateel Community Center in Redway, with additional rehearsals starting in November and a performance in early December. Come to the first session on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The number of participants will be limited, so be sure to show up.

Any adults who would like to become involved by helping out with costumes, sets, makeup, snack program, etc., will be heartily welcomed. To volunteer or for more information, please contact the Mateel at 707-923-3368, or call Joani at 707-923-5274.
