18-year-old stabbed at Arcata party, in stable condition

The following is a press release from the City of Arcata:

Today at about 1:40 a.m., officers from the Arcata Police Department responded to a report of a loud party in the 4500 Block of Valley West Blvd. While the officers were speaking with the resident who was hosting the party, an 18-year-old male ran up to the officers screaming that he had been stabbed in the arm. The officers saw that the victim had a significant laceration to his arm that was bleeding profusely. Officers requested an ambulance respond and provided first aid to the victim with the assistance of a bystander.

The investigation revealed that a fight involving multiple subjects had broken out to the rear of the residence and that the victim was stabbed during the fight. The victim then sought out the officers for assistance.

The victim was transported to the Mad River Hospital and is in stable condition.

The Arcata Police Department is actively following up leads and is requesting any witnesses to the assault to please contact the department.
