The verdict for the Bodhi Tree double-murder trial was announced this afternoon.

According to Humboldt County Deputy District Attorney Elan Firpo, the jury found Tree not guilty of first-degree murder and guilty on two counts of second-degree murder in regard to the May 2013 fatal shootings of 18-year-old Eureka High School senior Christina Schwarz and 27-year-old Alan "Sunshine" Marcet. The jury also found Tree guilty on a third count of attempted murder, in regard to the nonfatal 2013 shooting of Rhett August.

Firpo said there were two special allegations added regarding a firearm that could each add 25 years to Tree's sentence.

Tree will go to sentencing on Aug. 22 and may be able to appeal after, Firpo said.
