Friday, May 9 the South Fork Track team competed in the Humboldt Del-Norte County Prelims and continued the improvements they have been making all season.
Dustyn Salomon has been the standout the entire season continually finishing second in the 1600 and 3200 meters. Salomon was able to take the top spot in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:35.79. He continued his success in the 3200 meters as well, again finishing 2nd with a time of 10:05.22. Both times were Dustyn's best of the year.
Sean Sweeney set a personal record in the discus, finishing 16th with a throw of 96'7". Sweeney also finished 22nd in the shot put with a distance of 30'11.5".
Huston Reuter finished 24th in the 1600 meters (5:56.15) and 29th in the shot put with a distance of 26'5.5".
Jorin Eddy had his best meet of the season setting three personal records in discus (82' 10.00", high jump (4' 10.00") and long jump (14'2.75").
Alea Aloha finished 17th in the 100 meters (14.93), 18th in the 200 meters (31.87) and set a personal record of 71.39s in the 400 meters earning a 10th place finish.
Raya Mahony earned an 8th place finish in the 3200 meters (14:46.02), a 15th place finish in the 100 meter hurdles (21.65) and set two personal records in the 100 meters (25th 15.46) and the long jump (17th 11'3.25").
Katy Johnson earned 29th in the 100 meters (15.62), 23rd in the 200 meters (33. 45) and 19th in the long jump (10'6.25").
Maricela Lopez finished 12th in the 800 meters (2:56.39) and set a personal record when she finished 13th in the 1600 meters with a time of 6:33.38.
Madisyn Salomon finished 9th in discus (78'8") and 11th in the long jump with a distance of 12'4.50".
Miriam Duron set two personal records finishing 4th in the shot put (18'11.5") and 17th in the discus (63'4").
Miriam Duron, Madisyn Salomon, and Dustyn Salomon all qualified for the Humboldt Del Norte County finals, which will take place Friday, May 16 at McKinleyville High School.
