Open mic and dollar-off beer night at Persimmons

On Wednesday, April 30, Persimmons Garden Gallery in Redway will host an open mic. This will be a fun opportunity to take the stage, and there is a dollar off each beer on Wednesdays. Call 707-223-0422 if you are interested in signing up to play.

On Thursday, May 1, the eclectic acoustic duet M Notes will perform. The dynamic duo, Michael Norton and Megan Hemsley, has been playing a variety of cover tunes all over Northern Humboldt.

Off the Chart will appear on Friday, May 2. Known for Latin and jazz standards, on this night they will feature the gypsy jazz stylings of Gayle and Michel Forner.

There will be a little bit of everything: sultry Billie Holiday, catchy bossa novas, and scintillating Django Reinhardt, with Bill Andrews on bass, Marcia Mendels on keys and vocals, Carl Hanson on drums, Chris Manspeaker and Michel on guitars and Gayle on mandolin and fiddle.

On Monday, May 5, enjoy a special Cinco de Mayo celebration with authentic Mexican food and hot Latin dance music from The Latin Peppers. The six piece group features Jimmy Durchslag on trombone, Orlando Morales on timbales, Jon Lewis on congas, Andy Barnett on trumpet, Tim Randles on piano and Lee Phillips on bass.

Persimmons is open Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., with music from 7 to 10 p.m. and serves Briceland, Elk Prairie, Whitethorn, Joseph Jewel, Alder Springs, Moonstone Crossing and Bergin-Sipila wine and North Coast Brewery Scrimshaw, Eel River California Blonde, Steelhead Extra Pale Ale and also their Porter.

Trudy Light will share free wellness sessions every Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
