Eureka resident suspected of DUI hits Bayside post office pole

A Eureka man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after overturning his car in front of the Bayside Post Office early Easter morning, officials said.

Arcata Police Department officers arrested a Eureka man on Sunday after his car hit the pole outside the Bayside Post Office and overturned.

APD Detective Sgt. Todd Dokweiler said 18-year-old Karl Arnold III was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 5:56 a.m.

"It looks like he initially fled and was located in the bushes nearby," Dokweiler said. "No one else was involved."

Dokweiler said Arnold was booked into the Humboldt County jail and later released. He added that there is no estimate for damage at this time.
