Calliope brings traditional tunes to town

Are you ready for some lively, toe-tapping music? Treat yourself to an evening out with the string band Calliope at the Garberville Civic Club on Thursday, April 3. The group features Grand National Fiddle Champion Tashina Clarridge, and offers traditional and modern tunes from Appalachia, Ireland and Britain.

Clarridge and her fellow band members, Emily Mann and Amy Anders, aren't just accomplished fiddlers; the ladies also play guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass, and whistle, accompanied by their sweet vocals.

The concert will be held at the Civic Club, 477 Maple Lane, from 7 to 9 p.m. The group will also offer a community workshop from 4 to 6 p.m. All levels of musicians are welcome. The cost of the concert is $15 and the workshop fee is $15. A discount price of $25 is offered for those who attend both. Private lessons are available during the day with the band member of your choice.

For information or workshop/lesson registration please call Diane Richardson at 498-0187.
