HAR announces 2013 member awards

The Humboldt Association of REALTORS annually honors three of their members with Realtor, Rookie and Affiliate of the Year Awards.

Honored at the association’s annual installation dinner held in January at the Ingomar Club in Eureka were 2013 Realtor of the Year, Brenda Lockhart of Ming Tree, Realtors; 2013 Rookie of the Year, Richelle McClurg of Ming Tree, Realtors and 2013 Affiliate of the Year, Barbie Turnbaugh of Umpqua Bank.

Recipients must be true professionals who have attained a measure of respect from their peers, must have made a contribution to the field of real estate or their field of expertise, must be active in the community and must be actively involved in the Humboldt Association of REALTORS.

Brenda Lockhart, Realtor of the Year started her real estate career with Ming Tree Realty in Eureka, now known as Ming Tree, Realtors in 1998. Formerly the association’s 1999 Rookie-of-the-Year and currently its 2014 treasurer, Brenda has been a former board of director and served yearly on numerous committees including member services, scholarship, golf and Toys for Kids.

A highly respected real estate professional by her peers and clients, she sets the standard that every Realtor should live up to. Known for being compassionate, unselfish and caring, she is an avid animal lover volunteering her time at Miranda’s Rescue, an accomplished golfer and is considered a person everyone can call their friend.

Richelle McClurg, Rookie of the Year has been a Realtor with Ming Tree, Realtors in Eureka since May of 2012. Since joining the association she has been very active as a member of the Toys for Kids committee. In the short time she has been a Realtor, she has immersed herself in her career demonstrating her ability to put people at ease, inspire confidence and to get the job done.

_Considered by her peers as kind, considerate and professional, Richelle is involved in her community as a volunteer at the St. Joseph Family Resource Center, First 5 Humboldt, and the McKinleyville Future Farmers of America to name a few organizations. She also sets aside the time to volunteer in her children’s classrooms.

Barbie Turnbaugh, Affiliate of the Year has worked in the real estate industry for nearly 15 years and is currently a mortgage loan officer with Umpqua Bank in Arcata. Known by all for her outgoing personality, Barbie has devoted many hours to the association and its Realtor members.

An experienced mortgage professional who always keeps her clients’ best interests in mind, Barbie was recently awarded Umpqua’s 2013 Circle of Excellence Award and in the past has been named Umpqua’s 2009 Loan Officer of the Year and California Loan Office of the year in 2010 and 2011.

A native of California who has lived in Humboldt County for the past 14 years, Barbie also supports her community by being an active member of Soroptimist International of Humboldt Bay.

The Humboldt Association of REALTORS provides services that enhance the knowledge and resources for real estate professionals and the communities they serve.
