Summer’s right around the corner! Garberville’s first farmer’s market of the season opened last Friday with 12 vendors selling plant starts of all kinds, spring greens, early vegetables, grass-fed beef, grains both whole and milled, home-baked breads and pastries, homemade preserves, goats-milk soap, tanned goat hides, tie-dyed clothing, braided throw rugs, baskets, jewelry, and more. Folks lined up to get a fresh-made pizza from the Lost Frenchman, musicians played cheerful tunes and hopping rhythms, friends greeted each other, children romped through the new splash fountains in the town square, and the warm almost-summer sun smiled down all day. The Southern Humboldt Farmer’s Market will be back every Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. from now until the end of October, with something different every week to enjoy. Don’t miss it!
