Garberville Lions raise funds to support youth

The Garberville Lions Club would like to thank the businesses and individuals who supported our fourth annual Sweet Crepes for Your Sweetie breakfast/brunch on Saturday, Feb. 16.

For those who bought tickets but didn’t come and eat, you missed out on a great crepe breakfast. Garberville Lions netted almost $700 to be used to support youth sports, Youth Alive! and other local youth activities.

This year we had multiple donations from local businesses. Ray’s donated a $50 gift card for supplies and Shop Smart donated a $35 gift card for supplies.

The donations and winners for gift certificates were: Chautauqua $25, Tina Byerley; D’Amato’s $25, Scott Weaver; The Stonery $50, Angie Henry; King Range Books $20, Craig Parkinson; Humboldt Hunnies $25, Bridgit Aspen; Pacific Lotus 30-minute sauna for two, Susan Thompson; Pacific Lotus 30-minute sauna for two, Joe Ashenbrucker; Dazey’s Supply $50, Bryan Arbuthnot; Branscomb Center $25, Babette Johnson; Home Cooking pizza, Craig Parkinson; Renner Petroleum $30, Faith Hoffman; Benbow Inn and Resort 18 holes of golf for two, Connie Basquez; Benbow Inn and Resort a night’s stay in a deluxe queen room, Starla Widner.

Item donations and winners: Southern Humboldt Builders Service a gallon of paint, Tina Wilkinson; Garberville Theatre movie tickets, Norma Martin; True Value Hardware drill/impact driver combination, Bob Lyon; and Redway Feed Grand DameTM rose and ceramic pot, Craig Parkinson.

Our Lions traditional gift basket was won by Tom Puskarich. The basket, donated by Tranquility Lane Florist contained a bottle of wine, Briceland Vineyards; a T-shirt, Roberto’s Humboldt T’s; a water bottle, Organic Grace; a coffee cup with coffee and teas, anonymous; Eyebrow wax, Yours and Mine; a hair cut, The Cuttings; My USA Won Hwa mug, a T-shirt and Young Living Lip Balm, Dragon Heart Tan Soo Do; a bag of goodies, Sweet Grass; and from Lions members: four hand-tooled leather coasters, a $10 Ray’s gift card, a jar of pear honey, assorted organic teas, a votive candle holder with candle, and a heart rock from Kenya.

We are planning a bigger and better Sweet Crepes for Your Sweetie next year, so mark your calendars for February 15, 2014. And again, our thanks to all who supported Garberville Lions’ efforts to assist local youth programs.
