South Fork’s varsity boys basketball team has been seeded ninth in the North Coast Section Division 5 post season tournament and will face the eighth seeded Urban School of San Francisco at Kezar Pavillion tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m. For senior Damian Alatorre and junior Jesus Lopez it will be the second trip to the Kezar complex this school year as both played in the semi-finals of the NCS soccer tournament last November on the field on the same property.
Head coach Jake Mitchell was pleased with the 9 seed earned by his 14-11 squad and feels when his team is playing well they can compete with anyone. "It’s going to be a tough game, but if we play well we have a good chance," he said.
Urban is a private school in San Francisco with an annual tuition of $35,000. They have had no common opponents with South Fork throughout the season and Mitchell has been looking for scouting reports from fellow coaches to find out what to expect.
If the Cubs win, they will likely play the top-seeded St. Joseph Notre Dame in the next round of the tournament on Saturday.
