Body found at Centerville Beach identified

A man who died at Centerville Beach near Ferndale Sunday morning has been identified. Ike Densmore, 49, of Menlo Park, was found on the beach between the cliffs and the water line, about one-half mile south of the Centerville Beach parking lot.

Humboldt County deputy coroner Charlie Van Buskirk said the circumstances of Densmore’s death remain suspicious.

"There are some features of (his death) that are not clear cut," he said. Buskirk said an autopsy is scheduled which may assist law enforcement with the investigation. Detectives believe Densmore may have been in the North Coast area for a few days before his death.

He appears to be the same man who was investigated by Bay Area KGO-TV station in November for reportedly falsely claiming to be a Navy SEAL.

The Humboldt County sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in solving the case.

Densmore’s vehicle is a 2000 blue Eddie Bauer edition Ford Explorer, with tan trim and California license plates.

He was wearing sweatpants, a sweatshirt, two scarves, a beanie and a hoodie.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with more information regarding the case to call detective Rich Schlesiger at 268-3642, or the sheriff’s office crime tip line at 268-2539.
